About

 Anissa : Esthetician

Q. How long have you been an esthetician?

I have been an esthetician for six years. I went to esthetics school when I was 16 and became licensed when I was 18. Now, I carry multiple advanced state certifications in dermaplaning, chemical peels, and micro-needling. I am always striving to learn and grow.

Q. Why did you become an esthetician?

I always knew I would get into the field of cosmetology. Like many others in the industry, I leaned the most toward esthetics because of my skincare troubles. Since I was  a young teen, I have dealt with acne, eczema, and skin sensitivity. I found myself wanting to do the extra research and learn about these skin conditions and how I can manage them best. My first treatment room was in the kitchen where I would whip up skincare treatments for my sister and I using eggs, yogurts, avocado, oatmeal etc.  Current day my treatment plan looks a bit different. While I don't put the foods directly on my skin anymore,  I do love formulated fruit enzymes for all skin types and conditions.

Q. How did you get your start as an entrepreneur?

Well the journey has been so much fun and I have met some wonderful people along the way. Right after I became licensed I went to college and got my start by doing eyelash extensions out of my dorm room! I would promote it to the locals and other students. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I kept my room very tidy and had one side for personal use and one as my “ treatment table”  to do lashes and face waxing.

Q. What is your favorite service to perform?

It is in fact a Brazilian wax. When I first started I never thought I would do it. The idea was intimidating and fearsome. Once I learned and built up the confidence it became my favorite service. Hearing stories about an unfortunate service from clients, it pushed me to step up and strive to be the best I could be.

Q. What motivates your work?

I simply want to help. Help people relax. Be somebody who will listen to you talk. Be a navigator and help you navigate the overwhelming world of skincare. Building relationships is the most rewarding part of my work. I love meeting new people and eventually becoming more than just a service provider but becoming a friend.

Q. What is your favorite drink?

What can I say, I'm a sucker for an iced chai latte
